Limo Day was realised as a two part performance – first we invited various local personalities for an interview within the limo, using it as a mobile studio as we were driven around the lake district.
Four of us (Simon Poulter, Nina Pope, Karen Guthrie and me) worked collaboratively over a period of a year spending time at Grizedale Arts. During that time we did a lot of research and some of it became projects – the festival of lying – and some of it didn’t (eg. research into opera singer Ian Honeyman, whose absence became an enigma, to be eventually folded into John Graham’s lie). They included Adam Sutherland, George Harrison (Santa), Ralph Spours, Dave Shuttleworth and Ian Honeyman’s neighbour Bob Turner. The Limo was then used as a ‘cinema’ during the Grizedale LAWLESS festival and people watched the video interviews while being driven slowly around the forest.
